The Pastoral Formation Institute (PFI) is an educational institute licenced by the MFHEA. It was established in 2005 with the mission of offering lifelong learning opportunities to those who want to enrich themselves in pastoral, human, and spiritual formation. Since then, the PFI offered over 21 different courses, whose participants found the necessary help for their personal holistic formation and also to offer a better service in their communities. The PFI has the prime purpose of offering holistic formation as required by all the members of the Catholic community in Malta. In its effort to reinforce the identity of this community of brethren, the PFI offers opportunities for personal formation, spiritual experiences, promotes the professional formation of pastoral workers for the performance of their ministry and other work.
One of the courses offered by the Pastoral Formation Institute is the Developing Environmental Responsibility course. Originally proposed by Inteko, designed and delivered by CEER (University of Malta) and supported by the Interdiocesan Environment Commission in 2019, it was adopted by the PFI and further developed as its environmental course in 2020.
